Why: Hundreds of illuminated floats, half-a-million lights, and thousands of people will fill the streets of Downtown Fort Worth for the 34th annual XTO Energy Parade of Lights kicking off the holiday season. Parade goers can see decorated floats, antique cars, marching bands, precision equestrian units, horse-drawn carriages, and groups of carolers celebrating “The Melodies of Christmas” on the 1.58-mile parade route. Santa and Mrs. Claus will also be making an appearance on the specially designed, LED-lit, grand finale float. Cowboy Santas will ride around the route collecting toys for kids in need at 5:30 p.m. The parade gets underway at 6 p.m. at the intersection of Belknap and Throckmorton Streets.
