What: Fair Park 80th  Anniversary
When: Thursday, June 9th – Saturday, June 11th @ 10:00AM- 10:00PM

Why: A free festival at Fair Park will mark the 80th anniversary of the Texas Centennial Exposition. The event will include concerts, midway games and rides, fireworks and other family-friendly events. The 1936 Centennial Exposition marked the 100th anniversary of the state’s independence from Mexico. Fair Park was built for the event, which laid the foundation for the annual State Fair of Texas there. The festival will feature an exhibit focusing on Fair Park’s history. Performances will include the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Brave Combo, Quebe Sisters and The Mavericks. A new children’s play area with a carousel and playground equipment will be opened and free rides will be offered on the Texas Star Ferris wheel and Tower Ride.

What: Downtown Plano Art & Wine Walk
When: Thursday, June 9th @ 5:00PM-8:00PM
Where: Downtown Plano
     15th Street and K Ave., Plano, TX 75074
Why: Sample selected wines at shops throughout the Plano arts district while enjoying live music and curated art exhibitions. The monthly Art & Wine Walk is scheduled monthly, April through November, on the second Thursday of each month.

What: Brian Lebel’s Old West Show & Auction
When: Friday, June 10th – Sunday, June 12th @ 9:00AM – 5:00PM
Where: Will Rogers Memorial Center
     3401 W. Lancaster Ave., Ft. Worth, TX 76107
Why: Shop authentic western and Native American Indian art, antiques, collectibles and fine merchandise at Brian Lebel’s Old West Show & Auction. Buy, sell or trade with more than 170 exceptional vendors and bid on more than 400 items in the auction. Find authentic western fine art, collectibles, apparel, jewelry, home design, antique & historic firearms, books, boots, spurs, saddles and other fine merchandise. Buck Taylor, who played Newly on Gunsmoke, will be at the show with his art. For those interested in authentic Native American art and collectibles, there will be jewelry, baskets, pots, rugs, art and clothing.

What: Truck Yard’s Fine Wine and Flip Flops
When: Friday, June 10th @ 4:00PM – 7:00PM
Where: Truck Yard

Why: Calling all wine-os! Come to Truck Yard to toss back some fine wine in your finest flip-flops. We’re hosting a summer wine tasting where you vote for the next wine on our menu. We hear you fancy wine folks like art, so a variety of local D-FW artists will be there selling their work.  1 ticket gets you 5 wine tastings and a souvenir wine glass

What: Dirk Nowitski Heroes Charity Baseball Game
When: Friday, June 10th @ 7:00PM
Where: Dr. Pepper Ballpark

Why: A host of famous faces from sports and entertainment will join Dallas Mavs star Dirk Nowitzki for fun and games on the baseball field. The all-star event benefits the Dirk Nowitzki Foundation and the Heroes Foundation. The two teams, each made up of celebrity players and amateurs, will slug it out for 9 innings of hard-charging, umpire-umpping, trash-talking, base-stealing, home run-hitting baseball. Come early for family fun festivities outside the ballpark (3-6:30 p.m.) in the CBS Radio DFW Fan Fest area and following the games is a fireworks finale. Joining Dirk on the diamond:  • Dallas Cowboys Dez Bryant, Cole Beasley, Byron Jones  • Dallas Mavs David Lee, Chandler Parsons, J.J. Barea, Wesley Matthews, JaVale McGee, Salah Mejri, Justin Anderson, Jeremy Evans, Dwight Powell; Rick Carlisle, Deron Williams, Devin Harris will be in attendance but will not play. • Former Texas Rangers player Michael Young • Actors Chase Crawford (Gossip Girl) and Geoff Stults (TV’s The Odd Couple).

What: DFW GI Joe & Action Figure Show
When: Saturday, June 11th and Sunday, June 12th @ 10:00AM-4:00PM
Where: Grapevine Convention Center
     1209 S. Main St., Grapevine, TX 76051
Why: Action figures, toys, military vehicles, cosplayers, figure and DIO contest and more at the 5th annual show. The Fightin’ 788th will again be in attendance with their 1:1-scale Outpost Defender. kids 11 and under get in free.  Active Duty Military, Police and Firefighters also get free entry with current ID. Parking is free. Like last year, our plan is to have a big variety of dealers – selling not only G.I. Joe, but other action figures we’ve grown up with and now collect – both vintage and new.

What: 42nd Annual Dallas Egg Show and Sale
When: Saturday, June 11th and Sunday, June 12th @ 10:00AM-5:00PM
Where: DoubleTree by Hlton

What: The Queen’s 90th Birthday Celebration
When: Saturday, June 11th @ 11:00AM-10:30PM
Where: British Emporium
     140 N. Main St., Grapevine, TX 76051
Why: Grapevine’s British Emporium will be celebrating Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday and her historic landmark as Britain’s longest reigning monarch with an open house event. This event will coincide with royal celebrations being held throughout the UK. Refreshments and a sampling of traditional British foods will be served. This event is free and open to the public.  Corgi’s in their finest British costumes and attire will be on parade in front of the store. The “best dressed” dog and owner will receive a great prize to commemorate Her Majesty’s special day. Special guest Colin Cresswell, a local resident who served in the British Army as L/Sgt, 2nd Batallion Grenadier Guards from 1955 to 1957, has met Her Majesty the Queen and will be sharing his stories at the event. Some of Mr. Cresswell’s duties included Buckingham Palace, Kennsington Palace, The Tower or London, Bank of England and Windsor Castle.

What: Summer Sizzle
When: Saturday, June 11th @ 12:00PM-10:30PM
Where: Paschall Park
     1001 New Market Rd., Mesquite, TX 75149
Why: The City of Mesquite celebrates summertime by hosting the inaugural Summer Sizzle festival. Admission and parking are free. Summer Sizzle is a family-friendly event to kick-off the summer with food, fun and fireworks. The musical line-up will include regional tribute bands Canta Rhythm & Brass, Memphis Soul, Infinite Journey and more. The event will include food truck fare, a variety of vendors, free and fee-based activities as well as a spectacular fireworks show. There will also be a Kids Zone and Super-Sized Yard Games. Events Include: • BBQ Cook-off and People’s Choice Wing Contest. • Athletes 12 years and older, can battle it out in a six-on-six mud volleyball tournament. • Dancers can help put Mesquite on the map by achieving a world record for the most people to dance the popular Whip/Nae Nae.

What: Dallas 2nd Annual Start of Summer Watergun Fight
When: Saturday, June 11th @ 12:30PM
Where: Klyde Warren Park

Why: Last year’s watergun fight drew hundreds of people. Some rules for this year: This is a kid-friendly event. No water balloons. Make sure your gun does not look like a real gun. You can fill water up there. Dress to get soaking wet.

What: Irving Canal Fest
When: Saturday, June 11th @ 2:00PM-8:00PM
Where: Mandalay Canal at Las Colinas
     215 Mandalay Canal, Irving, TX 75039
Why: Chill out along the beautiful Mandalay Canal and take in a free performance by Texas Female Vocalist of the Year Bri Bagwell, or watch hula, African or belly dancing. Clowns, street performers and magicians will also take the stage to wow people of all ages. If the waters of Lake Carolyn beckon, you can rent a pedal boat or paddle board. Or let one of Irving’s own authentic Venetian-style gondoliers do the steering – and the singing. Food trucks will provide everything from cold desserts to cultural fare.

What: Untapped Festival Ft. Worth
When: Saturday, June 11th @ 3:30PM
Where: Panther Island Pavilion
     395 Purcey St., Ft. Worth, TX 76102
Why: Untapped craft beer and music festival returns Panther Island Pavilion with 70 breweries and more than 300 beers. The two music stages will feature headliners Built to Spill, Hayes Carll, Groupo Fantasma, David Ramirez, Rayland Baxter, White Reaper, Bummer Vacation and the Hendersons.
