What: Main St. Fort Worth Arts Festival
When: Thu. Apr. 20th – Sun. Apr. 23rd @ 10:00AM – 10:00PM

Why: Browse artists’ booths, sample great food, hear live music and enjoy community performers. Visit the Wine Experience tent (Main at 7th) and the Craft Brew Garden. There’s an outdoor arts-and-crafts studio to keep little hands busy.  The festival features a great lineup of music on four stages. Headliners include Bettye LaVette, Dave Alexander, Doyle Bramhall II, The Rocketboys, Elephant Revival, Chaka Demus & Pliers, Acrobats of Cirque-tacular, Ruben Ramos and the Revolution, Austin Allsup, Rodney Crowell and Sean McConnell. The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra performs on Friday evening, and 2013 Cliburn Competition 3rd Place winner Sean Chen performs on Saturday. General admission is free. Food and beverage service is by coupon only.

Why: A FREE film, music, and photography festival held over 5 days. The 10th annual festival will deliver an engaging program of high quality documentary films, world-class music, & a diverse selection of photography. In case you missed all that big news. Registration, however, will be required to attend any indoor event.

Why: Success Live brings together fifteen speakers in one day who will provide inspiration for transformation to all parts of your life: health, wealth, creativity, career, and personal relationships. It will appeal to anyone who has enough hope to believe that through their own efforts, to become more, they can achieve more. Speakers include Bishop T.D. Jakes, Lewis Howes, Mel Robbins, Tom Bileyu, Brendon Burchard and more.

Why: The seventh annual celebration offers a weekend full of music, film, exhibitions, interactive experiences, food, drinks and family fun. Discover your inner explorer, scientist, artist and gardener in the Fun Zone, think about minimalism in the Tiny House Village, go for a dive in the scuba pool, or sit back and relax in the sustainable beer garden and food market. The festival will also feature EARTHxFILM, Dallas’ first environmental film festival, which offers screenings of feature films, 33 short films, five virtual reality projects and six works in progress that explore conservation, climate change and the environment.

Why: The 6th Annual Main Street Fest celebrates the fun, festive, family atmosphere of Grand Prairie with live music on 3 stages, spectacular XPOGO stunt shows, carnival rides, arts & crafts, a business expo, food and beer gardens, a kidzone and other attractions.

What: Southwest Cannabis Conference & Expo

Why: The 2nd annual D-FW marijuana conference brings industry reformers, professional and medical experts, and curious individuals together to network and share the latest industry information. The two-day Expo includes interactive workshops, more than 70 guest speakers and 100 exhibitors. There will be no cannabis on site or used at the expo.

What: Light Farms presents Earth Day Party in the Park & Spring Festival

Why: Light Farms will host an Earth Day Party in the Park and Spring Festival to celebrate the Grand Opening of its new neighborhoods Hazel, Parkview, and Hawthorne. The celebration will feature activities the whole family will enjoy, as well as giveaways for a brand new golf cart, or, a $1,000 interior design package giveaway with an online design consultant from Laurel & Wolf. Food trucks will be on site with an assortment of food available for purchase, while Raised Right Men revs up the crowd with their upbeat, honky tonk tunes.
Activities include: Craft tent with Earth Day themed crafts, Flower braid bar, Butterfly release, Kite flight, Bricks 4 Kids LEGO lawn, Henna artist, Bounce house obstacle course and Model Home tours.

What: Dallas Arts District Block Party – Changing Perspectives
When: Sat. Apr. 22nd @ 1:00PM – 7:00PM

Why: In celebration of Dallas Arts Month, the Dallas Arts District hosts a free block party on Flora Street featuring 3 performances by aerialist dance troupe Bandaloop. The vertical dance company will perform at 3, 5 and 6 p.m. Paint in the street with Artcon. Find one-of-a-kind items at a Makers and Artisans Faire. See tumbling demos with ASI Gymnastics, live mural painting with Keep Dallas Beautifaux, dance improv with Bombshell Dance Project, and more. At 5:15 p.m., Zhora and friends perform dance-pop tunes on the community stage. Craft beer, eats and drinks from Community Beer Company and various food trucks will be available to purchase.

What: Wine & Chocolate Duos at Viridian

Why: Viridian in Arlington is popping the cork on vintages of wine and sweets during the Wine & Chocolate Duos. A diverse sampling of each will be offered in well-appointed models in Viridian’s new model home park. SMW Jazz Trio will perform live in nearby Tribute Park, where visitors can test their skills with a croquet mallet on the event lawn. Viridian’s Wine & Chocolate Duos is part of the Dallas Showcase Tour of Home.

What: Canal Fest

Why: Canal Fest returns for another year of fun, food, music, and culture. Set along the beautiful Mandalay Canal, this festival includes a local art exhibit, cultural dance displays, a variety of activities and attractions, live music, a food court, and much more.  Take in performances on 3 different stages including Indian, African, belly and hula dancing, family improv, comedy and magic, and popular Texas acts like the Jonathan Fox Band and Jenna McDaniel. Take a ride through the canal with Venetian-style singing gondoliers. Or rent a pedal boat or paddle board and take off across Lake Carolyn. Food trucks will sell everything from frozen desserts to a variety of ethnic bites.

What: Plano Artfest
When: Sat. Apr. 22nd – Sun. Apr. 23rd @ 5:00PM (Sat) and 10:00AM (Sun)

Why: Plano Artfest is back for a second year. This year’s festival will include a week of community art programming that ends with a two-day festival in the Downtown Plano Arts District. Plano Artfest is a FREE community event built around artistic inclusiveness, creative curiosities, and cultural connection. Saturday’s Artfest experience will include contemporary art installations curated by Dallas artist Joshua King from the AURORA festival, food trucks, an Artisan Lounge presented by Artisan Vapor Company, and a concert held on the Hub Streat Stage in McCall Plaza featuring local bands and regional headliner Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears, a band known for their garage/ punk/ soul sound. Sunday’s event will include the free sidewalk chalk contest, Chalk It Up, and will feature performances from Plano’s best art and cultural groups on the community stage. There will be local food vendors, a makers market, and a Kids Zone with bounce houses and art make-it-and-take-it stations. Collin College’s art department will be at the festival on both days, doing live demonstrations of pottery making and metal pouring art and hosting several interactive public art stations.

Why: ‘Prohibition: A Cannabis Cabaret’ fuses the music, fashion and dance of the 1920’s & 30’s Prohibition era with a sultry, modern flair. Sit back, breathe in, and let us take you on a journey that transcends time and place with beautiful and thought-provoking performances, while also drawing parallels between alcohol prohibition and the modern-day prohibition of cannabis. Produced by Her Sins Burlesque and Cabaret.

What: Latino Street Fest
When: Sun. Apr. 23rd @ 10:00AM – 6:00PM
Where: Dallas Arts District

Why: Avance Dallas and the Cathedral Santuario de Guadalupe present Latino Street Fest at 2301 Flora St. in the Dallas Arts District. The festival will include live music by Andres Yudiche and Los Tercos, a performance by Tatiana, a singing and dancing contest, a mariachi student contest, Aztec dancers, Ballet Folklorico, Futsall court tournament, food, arts and crafts, a health pavilion and an education pavilion.

What: Frisco RoughRiders vs. Corpus Christi- Bark in the Park

Why: Dogs and their owners can sit on the grass berm to watch the game. The first 500 dogs will receive a Riders-themed doggie gift. See a Daredevil Dogs demonstration and enjoy a pre-game catch session on the field for kids & their guardians (till 35 minutes prior to first pitch), and $1 ice cream sandwiches during game.
