Why: We’re kicking off the 2017 Fort Worth Food and Wine Festival with Texas’ most iconic food. Pit masters from across the state come together to celebrate the festival launch and share their creations with guests. Enjoy barbecue along with some tasty sides from around North Texas as well as the famed Hill Country, and look for lots of great barbecue-worthy beverages as well. Fans will select their favorite dish, which will be crowned “The Best BBQ of the Fort Worth Food and Wine Festival.”

Why: White Rock Lake Conservancy and the City of Dallas Park and Recreation Dept. host a 5k/10k race and festival. The race will take start at 6:30 p.m. at Winfrey Point. Post-race fun include live music, local food and drink vendors, and a bounce house for the kids. This event is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the White Rock Lake Conservancy, which raises funds to support White Rock Lake Park.

Why: Dallas’ original beer festival will feature beers from about 120 breweries pouring more than 500 beers at the 6th annual fest. Visitors will find rare brews, one-offs and special firkins. There will be plenty of food from food trucks and artisanal food vendors, and live music on the outdoor stage.

Why: Clash on the Catwalk is a fashion competition based out of Dallas that is unique in its approach to providing exposure for up-and-coming designers. The event, which first hit the runway in 2015, was created to provide a platform for designers looking to show their collections to eager fashion enthusiasts. Designers who compete in the event have an unexampled difficulty than with a typical fashion competition being that they are required to create their designs prior to the show. In addition to allowing the designers to compete for an opportunity to be featured in a magazine, a model competition is also held for models that participate in the show. The purpose of the event is to connect the designers with consumers and fashion aficionados, while using a competitive aspect to show each designers raw ability.
