What: State Fair of Texas presents Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel – The Exhibition
When: Friday, Oct. 7th – Sunday, Oct. 23rd @ 10:00AM

Why: This unique exhibition recreates one of the world’s greatest artistic achievements, Michelangelo’s renowned ceiling frescoes from the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel, reproduced photographically and artfully displayed in their original size. This innovative interpretation of the timeless masterpieces can be viewed up close, including The Creation of Adam and The Last Judgment. During the State Fair of Texas, the exhibition will run in the Women’s Museum building, and is expected to achieve record-breaking attendance numbers, with more than 150,000 art lovers, families, and students.

What: Texas-OU Red Rivalry Singoff

Why: The Singing Sooners from the University of Oklahoma face the Longhorn singers from the University of Texas in a high noon sing-off the day before the schools’ football teams face off in the Cotton Bowl. The free event will take place on Level 1, Center Court at Dallas Galleria

What: After Dark in the Park
When: Friday, Oct. 7th – Sunday, Oct. 9th @ 5:00PM – 9:00PM
Where: River Legacy Parks

Why: This family friendly fall festival features storytelling, karaoke, pumpkin patch, animal encounters, bounce houses and a variety of children’s games, crafts and activities. All proceeds benefit the environmental education programs of River Legacy Living Science Center. Food trucks and some activities have additional costs

What: 21st Annual Armenia Cultural & Food Festival
When: Friday, Oct. 7th – Sunday, Oct. 9th @ 5:00PM – 10:00PM
Where: St. Sarkis Armenian Church

Why: Head for St. Sarkis Armenian Church for its 21st annual cultural celebration featuring folk songs, modern and traditional dancing, fashion shows, food (think grilled kebabs and baklava) and church tours. There’s even a pilaf-eating contest if you’re feeling competitive, and Armenian-themed arts and crafts for kids.

What: Six Flags Over Texas presents Fright Fest
When: Friday, Oct. 7th – Monday, Oct. 31st @ 6:00PM
Where: Six Flags Over Texas

Why: Fright Fest, presented by Snickers®, is a spooky time of year as zombies and ghouls take over the park. Enjoy thrills and activities for the whole family throughout the day and come back for a truly frightening evening of fun after the sun goes down.

What: DIFFA/DALLAs Burgers and Burgundy

Why: DIFFA/Dallas presents the annual Burgers & Burgundy, one of Dallas’ best culinary traditions. John Tesar and his celebrity chefs will showcase their signature sliders and hand-selected wines in the exciting setting of an outdoor music and arts festival. The night also includes the reveal of the 2017 Style Council Ambassadors, accompanied by musical entertainment from Repel the Robot and The Please, Please Me, plus live paintings by artists Jason Reynaga, Anthony Gonzales, and Matthew Brinston.

Why: Cutting Edge Haunted House is a dark attraction filled with terrifying live actors, amazing special effects and incredible monsters. What: Reindeer Manor Halloween Park
When: Friday, Oct. 7th – Monday, Oct. 31st @ 8:00PM
Where: Reindeer Manor Halloween Park

Why: This fall, Reindeer Manor Halloween Park is leaving nothing to the imagination by creating a haunted attraction that is both frightening and entertaining. Reindeer Manor, the oldest haunted attraction in Texas, sits timeless, with an abundance of people attending and anticipating that the spirits of the past are coming alive. The historic Reindeer Manor Estate is said to be haunted by its previous owners. This year marks the attraction’s 43rd year, and a lot has changed since its beginning days. Actors jumping out of dark corners don’t satisfy seasoned haunt goers anymore. Reindeer Manor brings thrill from past extremes. If you creep through the manor halls your screams can awake deaths from the past. This year features three haunted attractions full of horrifying history, plus a new bonus attraction.

Why: If you ask different people where they first saw Arsenio Hall, you’d probably get a number of different answers. But it was the success of his Emmy Award-winning late night talk showThe Arsenio Hall Show that made him a household name. The versatile actor, comedian and producer will bring his stand-up act back to the stage in this special appearance.

What: Red River Showdown Watch Party

Where: Texas Sculpture Garden at Hall Office Park

Why: Frisco Arts Walk features interactive art performances with singing princesses, live statues, street musicians and artists, a food truck park, and community stage. Hands-on art children’s includes an instrument petting zoo, puppet-making and more. There will also be docent-guided tours of the Texas Sculpture Garden, mobile audio guide, and a concert in the new Hall Park Amphitheater with the Good Question band.

What: Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood Live!

What: The B-52s in concert

Why: After 36 years and 20 million albums sold, the B-52s are still rocking concerts around the world with their groundbreaking songs like “Rock Lobster,” “Dance This Mess Around,” and “Private Idaho,” and chart-topping hits like “Love Shack,” “Roam,” and “Deadbeat Club.” They re-emerged on the pop scene with their 2008 CD, Funplex, with signature B-52s’ style and unforgettable dance-rock tunes that start a party every time their music begins. The B-52s will be joined by local opening act, The O’s. Proceeds from the B-52s concert will help Levitt Pavilion Arlington provide more than 50 free, culturally diverse concerts. It is the only Levitt concert that requires a ticket purchase.

What: Flying Saucer presents Beerfeast 2016

Why: BeerFeast features some of the country’s best craft beers, including more than 100 selections of local, national and international beers from more than 60 breweries. Tickets to BeerFeast 2016 are $35 and are now available. If tickets are still available on the day of the event, prices will increase to $45 at the door. Members of Flying Saucer’s U.F.O. Club can purchase tickets at the discounted price of $30 prior to the festival. U.F.O. Club members with M.O.U. status get in free. Ticket purchase includes admission to the festival; a BeerFeast tasting glass; and a tasting card good for 12 samples of any of the festival beers.

What: Alamo Drafthouse presents 2016 Presidential Debates Viewing Parties

Why: Both Dallas area Alamo Drafthouse locations will show the 2016 Presidential Debates on the big screen for free. Because freedom is free and so is this. In true Alamo Drafthouse fashion, these events will feature a themed menu. But don’t worry – they’re equal opportunity offenders for both contenders. The menu includes such selections as Trump’s “Build A Wall Around It” Taco Salad, Hillary’s Leak Pizza, The Donald’s YUGE Orange “American Dreamsicle” Float, a Clinton Black Out Cocktail, and more.

What: TLC in concert

Why: Enjoy a fun-filled night of live music, featuring ’90s R&B supergroup TLC. Though bandmate Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes has passed on, remaining members Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas continue to entertain fans with their arsenal of nostalgic hits.
