What: North Texas Fair & Rodeo

Why: The North Texas Fair and Rodeo (NTFR) is known throughout the Southwest as a leader in bringing the hottest country music talent to the North Texas area each August and offers professional and youth rodeos, livestock exhibitions, a premier midway and exciting exhibits. Music Headliners- 8/19: Josh Abbott Band, 8/20: Steve Wariner, 8/26: Randy Rodgers Band, 8/27: Charlie Daniels Band. Rodeos to enjoy include the PRCA rodeo, invitational ranch rodeo, 21 and under rodeo, bull blowout and mutton bustin’. Additional attractions include nationally known western trick roper Loop Rawlins and CoServ will be presenting the Bengal Tiger Encounter

What: Slipknot with Marilyn Manson

Why: Slipknot will team up with Marilyn Manson for a special tour. Slipknot’s last album was 2014’s 5: The Gray Chapter, while Manson is touring in support of his 2015 album, The Pale Emperor. Following the unplanned surgery for Slipknot lead singer Corey Taylor, this date was rescheduled from June 26.

What: Grand Prairie BalloonaPalooza
When: Friday., Aug. 26th – Sunday, Aug. 28th @ 4:00PM – 11:00PM
Where: Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie

Why: See a gathering of hot air balloons that comes to life at sunset with brightly glowing colors and the roar of the burners. Watch as these colorful balloons float high above the crowd with music, lights and special effects that will be sure to bring smiles to all ages.  The 3-day balloon glow festival also offers arts & crafts, food, live music stage and other family fun activities.

What: Little D Markets presents Commerce Street Night Market
When: Friday., Aug. 26th @ 6:00PM -10:00PM
Where: Commerce Street Night Market

Why: Little D Markets is partnering with Alta West Commerce to launch Dallas’ first monthly night market at their pavilion. Commerce Street Night Market will feature a curated vendor marketplace, live music, workshops, and art installations on the last Friday of each month. All sponsorship and vendor fees will be put towards the artists’ time and materials, making the night market a tool for artists themselves to advance the already active creative community in West Dallas. Participants will also be invited to host pop-up classes and workshops during the market.

What: Broadway Series: A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder

Why: A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder tells the uproarious story of Monty Navarro, a distant heir to a family fortune who sets out to jump the line of succession, by any means necessary. All the while, he’s got to juggle his mistress (she’s after more than just love), his fiancée (she’s his cousin but who’s keeping track?), and the constant threat of landing behind bars. Of course, it will all be worth it if he can slay his way to his inheritance … and be done in time for tea

What: Improv Arlington presents Faizon Love

Why: Faizon Love is a plus-sized actor of Afro-Cuban descent whose killer smile and infectious laugh can liven up any comedy club. Love got his start as a stand-up comedian and has been seen on HBO’s Def Comedy Jam and BET’sComic View. He has co-starred in such well-received movies as Couples Retreat, Fear of a Black Hat, Elf, and Friday. His easy-going style of comedy makes him so lovable and likable that, when you see him live, you can’t help smiling all night long.

What: STAR WARS Marathon

Why: For the first time in over a decade, Alamo Drafthouse is bringing the original Star Wars trilogy roaring back to big screens at movie palaces and performing arts centers across the country this August. That’s Episode IV — A New Hope, Episode V — The Empire Strikes Back and Episode VI — Return of the Jedi all back on the big screen. All shows will feature specially curated videos and clips between films, contests, props to bring the power of the Force to life, and loads of other Star Wars insanity

What: PokeWalk Dallas #1

Why: From 4 to 9 p.m., the Dallas/Fort Worth area Pokemon Go trainers will have the opportunity to become friends with other trainers, exercise in one of Dallas’ arguably most beautiful parks, and collect Pokemon. At 9 p.m., the group that remains will travel from Klyde Warren Park to Off The Record and the surrounding bars for a Bar PokeCrawl with a surprise finish at an iconic Dallas establishment.

What: Reunion Lawn Party: Mavs Takeover

Why: The Dallas Mavericks take over the free lawn party with games, giveaways, drum line, ManiACCs and dancers. What: Brad Paisley: Life Amplified World Tour

Why: Brad Paisley comes back to Dallas in support of his album, Life Amplified. He will be joined by Tyler Farr and Maddie & Tae.

What: Meat Fight 1K
When: Sunday, Aug. 28th @ 11:00AM

Why: The Meat Fight 1K is a true Texas triathlon: Beer, BBQ and Bourbon. Participants consume all the beer, BBQ and other food and drink that makes sense between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The challenge: Eat at 12 of the 20 vendor stations on the course to earn a finisher medal and the chance to win 2 tickets to the Meat Fight barbecue competition in November. The Ticket’s Mike Sirois, Cash and Sean Bass will be on hand to kick off the race. Food stations include corn dogs from Luscher’s; massive amounts of barbecued meats from Local Yocal, Slow Bone, Lockhart Smokehouse, Heim BBQ, Smoken S Barbecue, One90 BBQ; popsicles from Pop Star; cold brew from Noble Coyote Coffee Roasters; beer from TUPPS and Four Corners Brewery; bourbon from Buffalo Trace, and more. Great food and fun and it all benefits a great cause: the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Meat Fight’s Meat Bike Program, which gives bikes to people who have MS.

Why: The 12th Annual Big Tex Choice Awards will give State Fair of Texas fanatics the chance to taste all eight finalist dishes.  They will compete for the prestigious titles of Best Taste and Most Creative for this year’s State Fair. The eight finalists are: Caribbean Pineapple Korn-a-Copia, Created by Stephen Alade, Deep Fried Bacon Burger Dog Slider on a Stick, Created by Brent & Juan Reaves, Deep Fried Pulled Pork “FUNYUN®” Dings, Created by Chris Howard, Fernie’s Down Home Chicken Pot Pie Pocket with Mac ‘n Cheese Dip, Created by Christi Erpillo, Fried Jell-O®, Created by Ruth Hauntz, Injectable Great Balls of BBQ, Created by Glen Kusak, Southern Fried Chicken & Dumplins, Created by Clint Probst, State Fair Cookie Fries, Created by Isaac Rousso Included with tickets is one admission ticket to the State Fair, a Fair-branded baseball cap, and a commemorative Big Tex refillable cup. Event will take place in the Tower Building at Fair Park. All proceeds from the Big Tex Choice Awards ceremony will be donated to the State Fair of Texas Youth Scholarship Program.

What: Pokemon Go Music Festival
When: Sunday, Aug. 28th @ 5:00PM – 9:00PM
Where: Addison Circle Park

Why: Dallas’ Studio 7, Pogue Entertainment Group and 9-year-old Maya Delgado are hosting a Pokémon Go themed music festival at the Addison Pavilion in Addison Circle Park. All proceeds will benefit Maya Delgado’s HeARTS of Maya foundation, which launched earlier this year. The festival kicks off at 5 p.m. and is scheduled to run until 9 p.m. Music and entertainment throughout the evening will be provided by fifteen talented Studio 7 artists, including 9-year-old Maya Delgado, founder of HeARTS of Maya. Admission for the festival is free. There will be for-purchase items including $5 raffle tickets for more than 50 prizes including Pokémon Go themed goodies. Raffle drawings will occur throughout the event and guests have to be present to win. Guests can also enjoy food and beverages from Addison Circle as well as food trucks provided for the occasion, including the 7 Eleven Slurpee Truck.

What: KXT 91.7 presents: Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals
